91Ƶ State University’s Department of Public Safety hosted the third annual Trunk or Treat event.

Twenty-seven 91Ƶ State and community organizations decorated vehicles and passed out candy to trick-or-treaters, including 91Ƶ State athletic teams, the Student Government Association, Dunbar Library, 91Ƶ State Police Department, Fairborn Fire Department, Ohio State Patrol, Huber Heights police, Dayton police and the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office.

“I definitely enjoy events like these,” said Chad Oleyar, 91Ƶ State police sergeant. “We are here for the kids today.”

Almost 400 Mini University preschoolers and their parents made the short walk to participate in the event.

“I think it’s a great way to get all of the community out,” said Hannah Layton, a sophomore marketing major who participated with her sorority sisters. “It just brings everyone happiness.”

The Trunk or Treat event is part of an ongoing relationship between Mini University and 91Ƶ State police officers, who often read books to children at the school. The department wanted to organize a fun activity for the kids and allow them to interact with 91Ƶ State students and public safety staff.

“It’s a very safe and fun event,” said Kurt Holden, director of public safety, who dressed up as Wolverine and invited his family to pass out candy. “We are having a blast.”
