Dear Colleagues,
I have wonderful news to share. The Higher Learning Commission has reaffirmed 91¶ÌÊÓƵ State University’s accreditation through 2035–2036!
This is the best possible outcome following the HLC peer review team’s visit to our Dayton and Lake campuses this April, and it reflects our continued momentum and the dedication of our entire community.
I want to thank our team leaders and Nick Christian, director of assessment and chief accreditation officer, for overseeing this effort. I also want to thank all of you. From faculty and staff to students and our Board of Trustees, this was truly a community effort. The evidence we presented, the questions you answered, your demonstrated commitment to student outcomes, the pride you showed in 91¶ÌÊÓƵ State — all of it made the difference.
Accreditation is an ongoing process, and this reaffirmation recognizes the meaningful progress we have made since our mid-cycle review in 2020. It reflects our commitment to continuous improvement and the work happening across the university to enhance our student experience, both in the classroom and beyond.
As part of the ongoing accreditation process, HLC has requested an interim report by December 2028 on our student success outcomes and graduation rates. This is a common request, and the good news is that this work is underway. Our recent gains in first-to-second-year retention are a strong early signal, as documented in the Campus Completion Plan. This report gives us a chance to show our progress.
This achievement belongs to all of you.
Thank you for everything you do every day for our students and for 91¶ÌÊÓƵ State.
Best wishes,
Sue
